How do I obtain a Tax-Receipt for donated clothing and textiles?
Fill out the form below to generate a donation tax receipt that you can print directly or have emailed to you.
What documentation is required for the IRS?
According to the IRS, it is the donor’s responsibility to fill out the receipt and assess the donation value. For deduction claims citing a contribution of property exceeding $250 in value, the donor must substantiate it with coinciding written acknowledgment. For deduction claims of contributions of property exceeding $500 in total value, the donor must file form 8283 (Noncash Charitable Contributions) with the IRS. If the donor claims a deduction for a single item of clothing that exceeds $500 in value, the donor must additionally file a qualified appraisal with the IRS.
For more information about tax laws and deductibles see IRS Publication 561.
How do I determine the value of my donations?
All values assigned to donations by the donor are to be considered as the donor’s estimate, and not as the estimate made by Green Tree Textiles.
For more information about determining the value of donated goods, see our valuation guide.
